Dr Chutarat Chintakanont, the Senior Expert in Penology, delivered a speech for the webinar “Responding to the Challenge of COVID-19 in Corrections,” which was organized by the Singapore Prison Service for APCCA members on Thursday, November 18th, 2021.

For the Thai delegate, the presentation on “Promoting Staff Resilience and Well-being during COVID-19” was shared as the Department of Corrections has implemented numerous critical measures to effectively prevent and manage the situation in order to reduce the number of lives lost as a result of Covid-19, including both prisoners and prison officers. Thailand’s Department of Corrections has believed that prison personnel, both healthcare and custodial officers, have played critical roles in the global pandemic.
During the presentation, a brief overview, key statistics, and all relevant departmental measures will be discussed. The latter includes personnel administration, which ranges from the organization of work shifts and teams to full support for those infected while performing prison duties. In addition, some major challenges and potential solutions to this difficult time will be discussed.

In the special event, there also were many participants from APCCA members to share and discuss such topics in prison management during the COVID-19.
