On May 13, 2024, at Srisavarindhira Thai Red Cross Institute of Nursing, Bangkok, ACM Subin Chiwpreecha, the representative of the Directorate of Royal Senior Palace 904, arrived to inaugurate a specialized training course on medical practice in prison/correctional institution. The event was attended by Mrs. Jirapa Sinthunava, the Deputy Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Justice and leaders of the Department of Corrections: Chief Inspector of the Department, Director of Penology Division and Director of Medical Services Division, along with the leaders of Department of Juvenile Observation and Protection and the current and former President of Thailand Nursing and Midwifery Council. They are warmly welcomed by council members of the Institute and the executive board of the training course.

This training course is the fruit of the “Memorandum of Understanding” on Developing Registered Nurses Working in the Custodial Facility, signed between the MOJ and the Institute on Oct 29, 2020. The purpose of the MOU is to enhance the capability of nurses working in the prison/correctional institution. It aims to instruct them on related policies, laws, and most importantly, medical practices. There are total number of 17 registered nurses from the DOC and 5 registered nurses from the DJOP signed up for the training course, the first generation.
