On May 22, 2023, Mrs. Pongsawat Kaiarunsut, Permanent Secretary of Justice and leader of the Thai delegation, Mr. Ayuth Sintoppant, the Director-General of Department of Corrections, Ms. Pimporn Netrabukkana, Director of Strategy and Planning Division, and Mr. Vitchavud Suppipat, Director of Foreign Affairs Sub Division, attended 32nd Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice – CCPCJ conference. It was scheduled for 22 – 26 May 2023 at Vienna International Centre, Vienna, Austria.

The objectives of this conference are to discuss international cooperation in promoting crime prevention and criminal justice, to enhance the functioning of the criminal justice system to ensure access to justice, and to realize safe and secure custody. The Department of Corrections was given the opportunity to participate as the delegate government agency of Thailand, and our Director-General will offer a statement on the 7th topic: “Use and application of United Nations standards and norms in crime prevention and criminal justice,” on Thursday May 25, from 10 A.M. to 1 P.M. (In the time zone of Vienna)

In addition, there are Side Events separate from the main conference. They are activities that the Department of Corrections sent capable officers to be speakers on 2 events as follow.
1. Upper-level Side Event, topic “Addressing challenges in the treatment of offenders: the practical application of existing United Nations Standards and Norms and towards the development of the United Nations Standards and Norms on Reducing Reoffending”
2. Side Event, topic “Gender and imprisonment: experience and recommendations in addressing health needs”
