According to the mutual treaty on the prisoner transfer between Thailand and France, the Department of Corrections organized a ceremony at Klong Prem Central Prison on Monday, March 29, 2021, to transfer two French inmates to serve their remaining imprisonment in their home land. The transfer ceremony was witnessed by Mr Thawatchai Chaiyawat, Deputy Director-General as a representative of the Department of Corrections, with Mr Christophe Hemmings, Consul of France Embassy to Thailand. This transfer aims to provide inmates with not just the opportunity to stay in a more familiar environmental setting, but also to be visited frequently by their families and loved ones in intended to assist their rehabilitation.
